RAYON/VISCOSE WOVENS
Rayon, also known as viscose, is a semi-synthetic fiber created from plant cellulose, which is then woven into various weights of fabric to create a number of different textiles. There are now many different initial ingredients to make rayon fabrics, some of which are more eco-friendly than others, including bamboo, lyocell, and modal. While woven rayon fabrics have no natural stretch unless blended with spandex or other fibers, they do have varying degrees of opacity, weight, and drape. Rayon was initially developed as a cheap mimic of silk, and the textiles still have that silky feel. Popular rayon fabrics include challis, voile, crepe, as well as those typically made from silk like satin, velvet, or organza. It is also frequently blended with other fibers like cotton or linen to give those fabrics a softer, silkier feel.
